This house is respectful of nature, eco-responsible and committed to strong environmental values.
Located in the South of Aveyron, in the Grands Causses Regional Natural Park, at the foot of the Larzac plateau, the Maison de Vignes nestles in the heart of the Cirque du Brias in Tournemire. The site is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Natura 2000!
This small town hall was entrusted to the good care of our association in 2016 to give it a second life. Helped by a great team of volunteers and a few valiant workers, we have transformed it into an atypical reception area which dominates the valley and the village a little lower down.
Here, everything is conducive to letting go and disconnecting: the river flows (cool - 12 degrees on average) gently below. The hazelnut tree casts lovely shade and the fruit trees offer great excuses for an invigorating siesta.A table and pallet furniture allow you to picnic and enjoy the campfire when the sun goes down.
And the night ? Surrounded by the Cirque de Tournemire, the Maison de Vignes offers an incredible spectacle of the stars, without any light pollution.
You will feel like you are in the middle of nowhere. And yet! You will find a grocery store, bakery and even a restaurant in the village (Tournemire) 800 m from the Maison de Vignes. Lovers of hiking and large natural spaces will be delighted to walk on the many paths and hiking trails that run through the circus and the Larzac plateau.
Throughout the year, the decor offers its share of surprises which are renewed each time. With friends, family or lovers, come and take a breath of fresh air at the Maison de Vignes de Tournemire

Tournemire Vine House
The living room and the kitchen:
On the ground floor, near the window, a small fireplace revives the cooler evenings and a stove ensures warm well-being. The kitchen is complete: fridge, oven, gas stove, kitchen utensils, enough to provide excellent meals to enjoy with friends on the large dining table!
Dormitory cabins:
To access the "night" area, you have to go outside! We discover, above the "kitchen" space, the mezzanine with a cozy space which can also be used as an extra bed, a shower room cabin with shower and sink, and the two dormitory cabins which are furnished with bunk beds.
The toilets:
- In winter, the cabin Interior bathroom will allow you to take a brief shower. -
- In summer, an outdoor shower area allows you to wash using your solar shower bag, while looking at the landscape and its breathtaking view of the cliffs!Tadao Ando said it's one of the best ways to feel alive.
- The dry toilets are located in a shed against the house. You will have to go out for a second to get there, we like the fresh air at night ;-) Toilets, sink, everything is there!
What are dry toilets?
An ecological toilet system that avoids wasting water or polluting sensitive natural areas. They look like regular toilets except that your needs land directly in a large bucket. To avoid bad odors, sawdust is mandatory to cover. All you have to do is add a little bit and you're done! Once the bucket is full, it will need to be emptied. Mother Nature will take care of making compost.
In the same way, your animals are accepted but you must take care to respect the places and clean up after them!
